It's that magical time: the schedule is set, and now we just need some brave souls to step up and lead the panels! This doesn't have to be a scary thing. In fact, here are the base requirements for moderating a panel: - You have to show up (a few minutes early), stay the whole time, and end it on time. *Note, this means you can't attend whatever panel is scheduled against it.
- You propose a starting place for conversation and keep it on topic if it strays. But you're just the facilitator, you don't have to do all the talking!
- You decide if it's going to be open discussion or raise-your-hand-to-speak. If the latter, you call on hands.
- Type up 1 or 2 sentences describing what the panel is about, for the con website.
See? Not so scary :-) How much prep work you do in advance (if any at all) is totally up to you. EDIT: All spots are now claimed! However, if you need to back out, pair up, or trade around, you can still do that here. Thanks so much! Yay, moderators!

I am completely scared to nominate myself for this, but I'll take the Rachel panel.

I am completely scared to nominate myself for this, but I'll take the Rachel panel. WOO! Rock on! (And was I right to put you down for the Cliches/Pet Peeves panel? kben and I were pretty sure we remembered that correctly, but I want to check.)

You both remembered correctly.
So, with the Rachel panel, I'll be moderating two panels. Unless someone is opposed to that. Which you know, if people are, the clear solution- anon hate to my ask box.

Hey, quick question...
For moderators, should I perhaps work on some notes or point of conversation if things are slow to start off with or run out of steam?
Like a little speech of introduction, welcome to the panel, room etiquette and boom starting point?

Better to be overprepared than under :-)

Would you mind if I moderated the WIP & "Why Faberry isn't a crackship" panels?

I could do "The First Time Ever I shipped Faberry" as well.

Where would you like us mods to leave our 1-2 sentence descriptions? This thread? Email it to you?

Unrequited Faberry is my headcanon! I would happily mod this panel, assuming the following conditions are met: 1. No one else would like to mod it? 2. I will be permitted to use a gavel

Wooo John as I've mentioned before I'd be down to mod anything you need, although fic isn't a strong point for me.

Unrequited Love (Which Is Oh So Canon) or The Impact of Faberry: Why is Faberry not just a crackship? both sound bitching as long as they aren't at the same time I can swing 'em

I'll put you down for both! They're both late on Sunday -- will you still be at the con? I know you mentioned you might have to leave early.
