The schedule has been posted, hooray! And this means it's time to figure out who's going to actually, you know, run stuff.
This doesn't have to be a scary thing. Here are the base requirements for moderating a panel:
See? Not so scary :-) How much prep work you do in advance (if any at all) is totally up to you. We'll have access to a whiteboard and projector screen if you need visual aids. And you can even just be a co-mod with someone if you don't feel up to doing it on your own!
Here is the list of panels that need moderators. Several changes have been made from the poll, such as consolidating two panels into one, so please pay attention to the attached notes.
*Note: This is a combined panel of "Why Faberry Works" and "From RuPaul to Roundtrip Tickets" as presented in the poll.
**Note: This was incorrectly listed in the poll as just being about Rachel. As submitted for nominations, it's about both of them, and has been edited as such on the schedule.
Any panels still left unclaimed by 7/15 will be scooped by jarrow and kben, but we'd really, really love to see as many of you get involved as possible! We're happy to co-mod with you, if you like. It's a very safe environment to work on those public speaking skills! Or, just feel powerful and in charge of shit.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask them here! We'll take moderators on a first-come, first-serve basis, but if someone has snagged a panel you really wanted, please talk to them about sharing as co-mods! Thanks, y'all!
This doesn't have to be a scary thing. Here are the base requirements for moderating a panel:
- You have to show up a few minutes early, stay the whole time, and end the panel on time. Because there aren't any time slots with two conflicting things scheduled, hopefully this won't be a problem.
- You propose a starting place for conversation and keep it on topic if it strays. But you're just the facilitator, you don't have to do all the talking!
- You decide if it's going to be open discussion or raise-your-hand-to-speak. If the latter, you call on hands.
- Type up 1 or 2 sentences describing what the panel is about, for the con website/program. (jarrow/kben can help with this, if you need.)
