Ok folks, I have taken your great suggestions and started running some preliminary numbers.
1) We will definitely have snacks throughout the con, at least two things set out on each day, probably between lunch and dinner to get us through game shows and panels. (But maybe in the morning instead/as well.)
Right now, it looks like we can afford something like this:
- Spinach & Artichoke dip (on 2 of 3 days)
- Artisan Cheese display (on 2 of 3 days)
- Vegetable spring rolls (on 2 of 3 days)
- Guacamole and Salsa (on 1 day)
- Fresh Seasonal Fruit (on 1 day)
I can mix those numbers up (like, to have more of something and less of something else). But that gives you a general idea of what we're looking at. kben and I will lock it down later this week; this is a first draft.
2) In addition, we can get one big item. This could be a meal, like pasta or baked potatoes for dinner on Friday, or similar. OR, it could be a big dessert, probably on Saturday night. But we can only afford ONE. And actually, right now, we can't yet afford it for all 45 people (so pimp those Supporting Memberships, folks!)
Because, yeah, that Chocolate Waterfall? Costs a thousand dollars.
Our catering budget is $1600, so really think about how important it is to you, heh. We could do something like pasta or potatoes for dinner for everyone right now with the money we have.
3) What I need to know now is: Would you rather have more food set out throughout the weekend (a bigger variety of smaller things, appetizers, etc, from up in section 1), OR, would you rather we have the things in section 1 and then a big item. If we forgo the big item, we can double the amount of other smaller things we have. If you want a big item, let me know if you want dinner OR dessert, because we can't have both!
And did I mention we need to sell those Supporting Memberships? If we get to 100, we can afford pretty much anything y'all want.
Again, this has to be locked down by the 7th, so speak up!
